Link safety basics: how to check before you share

Creators should verify the https destination. Recipients should treat unexpected short links with care.

Short links compress an address; they do not make a bad page safe. Creators are responsible for honest https destinations. Recipients should pause when a link arrives from an unexpected sender.

no-referer requires public https destinations, blocks self-loops to this site, and pairs redirects with a no-referrer policy. That is a baseline - not a guarantee about the final page.

For creators

  • Read the full destination in the create form.
  • Open My URLs when you inherit a campaign and confirm each target.
  • Retire codes that point at pages you cannot verify.
  • Do not use short links to disguise harmful content - see Acceptable use in Help.

Reporting harm

Email [email protected] or use Report abuse with the short URL and what you observed. Operator: Nexlume Media LLC
