What is a URL slug?
The readable segment at the end of a path - on no-referer, that is often your /r/ code or alias.
A slug is the human-readable part of a URL path - the bit after the final slash that identifies a page or resource. Blog posts use slugs like /blog/what-is-a-url-slug. Short links use a short slug under /r/.
On no-referer the slug is either an automatic code or an optional alias you choose.
Writing a good short-link slug
- Prefer words you can say aloud.
- Avoid characters that break in messengers.
- Do not promise a different page than the destination.
If an alias is taken, pick another or leave the field blank for an automatic code.
